Vincent Torgah is confident of an impressive showing at the 2018 Stanbic – Otumfuo Invitational Golf Tournament scheduled for Friday April 20 to Sunday April 22 at the magnificent Royal Golf Club in Kumasi. The Tema based pro has achieved an enviable record in the past year and believes that he’s in the best shape to ward off other favorites.
After closing the past 12 months with an incredible 11 wins out of 14, there would surely be significant attention on him as he tries to add yet another win to his already enviable record.
Among the tournaments he won were the; Abidjan, Senegal and Sierra Leone Opens. The Abidjan Open however, according to him, was the one he found most challenging due to the tough conditions on the course. Yet, he won with a total score of 277 over the four-day event.
He achieved this feat because like many occasions, due to his impressive statistics on Fairway hits, Green in Regulations and Putting. Despite his past victories, Vincent admits that, the Royal Golf Club this weekend will be lined up with a tougher field that features some of the big names on Ghana’s Professional Golf Circuit; names such as Emos Koblah (defending champion), Stephen Klah, Kwame Korsah and Godwin Aryeetey, Vincent Cofie and many others.
He explained that, “This is the first major tournament in Ghana this year, and many of the golfers are prepared to put up a good showing.” But for him, he will use the tournament to test his strength, challenge his progress and ultimately rely on the results to go back to the drawing board to assess the way forward for him.
Vincent confided in thegolfonline.com that his mental game is his strength. Overall, he’s comfortable with the various aspects of his game and he will just stay focus and do what he does best.
It may be too early to call, but Vincent looks to be the favourite for the tournament, combining length off the tee, accuracy on the fairways as well as good composure on the greens. If Vincent Torgah can put this together on the day, then the 2018 Stanbic – Otumfuo Tournament appears to be in his grasp.
