The dust has now settled from the qualification matches and the Ghana Golf Association’s team for the upcoming All Africa Team Challenge to be held in Mauritius in October is set.
The team will consist of Frank Avorsey, Alfred Kwame, Sampson Asorgbah and Isaac Kuttey.
These four golfers have established themselves as the best among the scratch players in the country, after four grueling rounds between Achimota Golf course and Celebrity Golf courses.
They will now begin a regime of training in preparation for the main competition to be contested in October.
GGA President, Mr Michael Aggrey noted, “The four golfers should be happy with themselves in making the team. However, now the work begins all over again as they prepare to represent themselves and Ghana to the best of their abilities in the main event.”
He went on to say, “As it is, it proved wise to offer a wild card chance to teenager, Isaac Kuttey as he duly proved his talent in qualifying amongst the more experienced scratch players.”
The All Africa Team Challenge 2019 will pit team Ghana up against the top scratch golfers from across the continent.
These competitions are usually dominated by teams from southern Africa, with South Africa and Zimbabwe showcasing future professional golf tour champions.
Team Ghana shall not be put off by the past and hope to upset the usual order of things with a strong showing.
We wish the team all the best in their preparations and will provide updated stories once the competition begins.
