A former Captain of the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, Francis Donkor-Baah has treated widows, the aged, children and prison inmates to Christmas party and exciting giveaways during the festivities.
The beneficiaries of the kind gesture were indulged in unforgettable moment of fun and merry making at the Octagon Executive Lodge in Kenyase, Kumasi.
The team proceeded to the Kenyase Prisons Camp where they provided the inmates with food, drinks, and gifts.
Mr. Donkor-Baah started the charitable donations about twenty years ago when he annually supported the aged and widows in his local Church, Assemblies of Ghana at Bibiani during Christmas with gifts. He continued the charity in Kenyase ten years ago when he set up Octagon Executive Lodge in Kenyase, Ahafo.
Speaking to TheGolfer Online, Francis Donkor-Baah intimated that “most mining communities are predominantly farming inhabitants. Therefore, once their farms are taken over by the Mining Companies, they may be compensated but their original livelihood become truncated”, he said, adding “the most affected are these widows and aged. So, during Christmas we try to bring them together and make merry and share gifts”
Over 1000 children, 160 widows, and 180 inmates benefited from the charity during the festivities. Each child was given a bottled soft drink, biscuit and snappy coated peanut and a packed lunch. The kids also enjoyed music, bouncing castles, face painting and received clothing from the USA donated by Ms. Veronica Oppong.
The Medical Team also provided screening for beneficiary widows that included breast examination, eye screening, BP and Blood in Sugar.
Mr. Donkor-Baah extended appreciations to individuals who stepped in to support the charity this year. They were his siblings – Emelia and Rita Donkor Baah (UK), classmates from 1988 – Joyce Addo Yobo (UK), Ebenezer Akumatey (USA) and Andrews Annang (USA) as well as Colleagues in Mining – Mr. Paul Sawley, Joseph Akwasi Addae and Benjamin Baah.
As a result of this consistent social responsibility works, the Omanhene (Dediako Nsiah Ababio) and the Traditional Council of Kenyase No 2 bestowed a title on Founder, Francis Donkor-Baah as Nkosuohene with name Nana Kwaku Baah in 2018.
