The picturesque Pra River Golf Links served as the backdrop for an exhilarating weekend of golf on October 17 and 18, 2025, featuring multiple competitions that brought together golf enthusiasts and professionals alike. With both the Monthly Medal and aggregate competitions unfolding over the two days, players exhibited remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
Men’s Monthly Medal Highlights
On October 18, the Men’s Monthly Medal showcased an impressive field of competitors. Asiedu Seth Mensah of Takoradi Golf Club emerged as the overall winner, achieving a breathtaking net score of 62. His strategic play, combined with keen precision, ensured he outpaced the competition to secure his title as the champion.
Roland Quainoo, also from Takoradi Golf Club, finished strong as the overall runner-up with a net score of 67, having excelled in the last nine holes. Samuel Ghartey from Nsuta Golf Club matched Quainoo’s score but landed in fourth due to countback rules, emphasizing the competitive nature of the tournament.
Other notable performances came from Ben Baah, who posted a net score of 69, and Matthew Darkwa with a score of 76, rounding out the talented field. In total, 13 cards were processed, reflecting an enthusiastic turnout.
Women’s Monthly Medal Highlights
In the women’s tournament, Rosemond Coggin claimed the title of overall winner with an impressive net score of 67, showcasing her talent and determination throughout the round. Joana Jackson, also from Takoradi Golf Club, followed as the overall runner-up with a score of 73, while Ernestina Mensah secured third place with a score of 81. Florence Opata of Tarkwa Golf Club rounded out the leaderboard with a score of 106. The women’s competition recorded four cards, highlighting the enthusiasm for the sport among local female golfers.
Professional Category – Aggregate Competition Results
The excitement extended beyond the Monthly Medal events as the aggregate competition unfolded over the two days, attracting professional golfers eager to showcase their talents. Kojo Banni of Tarkwa Golf Club dominated the aggregate results, finishing as the overall winner with an outstanding total of 137, including a remarkable second round score of 64.
Following closely was Ezekiel Affisco from Royal Golf Club, Kumasi, with a total of 138, and Francis Torgah from Centre of the World Golf Club completed the top three with a score of 139. The competition saw strong performances from other professionals, including Augustine Manasseh and Enoch Kofi Owusu, who both finished with totals of 143.
With 15 entrants in total for this competitive professional event, it was a testament to the depth of talent within the golfing community.
