The eagerly awaited 4th FNB Head of State Invitational Golf Tournament took place on November 28, 2025, at the prestigious Achimota Golf Club, Ghana’s premier golfing destination. This year’s event was inaugurated with a ceremonial tee-off by none other than John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana, marking the beginning of a day filled with sporting excellence and camaraderie.
As a prestigious amateur golf event hosted annually under the esteemed patronage of the reigning President, the tournament serves as more than just a sporting competition. It provides a vibrant platform for dialogue, collaboration, and business networking among leaders across various sectors. The theme for the 2025 edition, “Giving Back To The Community Through Golf,” underscores the tournament’s commitment to utilizing golf as a tool for community development and social impact, reflecting a dedication to creating lasting change.
Boasting participation from 120 golfers representing clubs across Ghana and beyond, the tournament was proudly organized by Northwestern Solutions in collaboration with the Ghana Golf Association. With First National Bank (FNB) as the headline sponsor, the event also enjoyed additional support from various sponsors, including the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Aphro, La Villa Aphro, Mundus, SAP Gp, Danny List Foundation, Caveman Watches, The Luckiest, and Nguvu Mining Limited.
Designed as a unique initiative to honor the Head of State, the tournament effectively connected executive leadership with the private sector, fostering an environment for meaningful interactions, policy discussions, and strategic partnerships. The attendance of distinguished guests, including the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Sir Sam Jonah, along with various presidents and captains of golf clubs, added to the prestige of the occasion.
Players competed across multiple categories, ensuring fair and inclusive competition for all skill levels, including Men’s Group A, Men’s Group B, and Ladies’ Group. A handicap scoring system was implemented, combining gross and net scores to determine winners in each category. This format not only rewards overall excellence but also recognizes individual performance relative to skill level, encouraging participation from a diverse array of golfers.
As the day unfolded, the tournament delivered plenty of excitement, showcasing remarkable performances from participants. Organizers and sponsors hinted at enticing prizes for the winners, which were set to be awarded during the closing ceremony, promising to elevate the event’s anticipation.
