Anthony Appiah maintained an intense early pace with solid consistency to win the Captain’s Prize Championship held at the Celebrity Golf Club. He closed off with 35 points in the Men Group A.
Anthony finished his round with a flurry of birdies, pars and some bogeys to lead a relatively tough pack on the day. G. Teye Lartey followed in second place with 33 points. Kusi Ohemeng finished third with 31 points.
In the Men Group B, Joseph Theku emerged winner in a 4-point lead after he recorded 39 points. Felix Akuamoah and Daniel Addo both returned 35 points for second and third places respectively but separated on countback.
Floria Hurtubise made yet another exciting return to the Celebrity Golf Club, some four weeks after she outclassed her field to win the South African Freedom Day Golf. In a similar fashion, Floria closed off with 37 points to lead the Ladies Group A, after beating into second place the evergreen Mona Myers-Lamptey who scored 36 points.
Maureen Akuaku managed a third place with 32 points.
In the Ladies Group B, Helen Appah captured the first spot with 36 points. Peace Akwei stayed in a yawning distance for second place with a score of 26 whiles Angelica Anyanful followed in third place with 24 points.
The one-day event was played under the rules of the World’s Golf governing body and the local rules of the club and adopted the Stableford Scoring System. The immediate past Captain of the Club, Mark Peverett sponsored the event.
