The second edition of GCB Bank Classic Medal took place at the Bok Nam Kim Golf Club over the weekend. The event attracted an exciting field of golfers from across the country who competed to register their names on the leaderboard.
When it mattered most, Christopher Mbii dominated the field with a defining gross score of 63 to register as the ultimate winner. The scratch golfer defied all odds and the heavy field to solidly keep the pack in a yawning distance in the Men Category A.
Following in second place was John Quarshie who returned a net score of 73 off handicap 7 while Dacosta Amofah Owusu stayed in the hunt for a third-place finish. Owusu churned out a net score of 74 off handicap 2.
Meanwhile in the Men Category B, Chief John Asafo-Adjaye maintained his poise to win on a countback after carding a net score of 68 off handicap 14.
Nana Yaw Bamfo followed in the second spot with a net score of 68 off handicap 12. Sangchul Han on the other hand shot the same net score of 68 off handicap 9 to settle for the third place.
In the Ladies Category, Beatrice Dovlo, staked to the lead on countback after shooting a net score of 68 playing off handicap 15. Hajia Zenabu Akoto recorded the same net score of 68 off handicap 10 to win in the second position.
Abena Ntrakwah-Mensah however shot a net score of 69 playing off handicap 23 for the third spot. Floria Hurtubise scored the lowest gross score in the Ladies Category after shooting 76. Floria played off handicap 7.
Tafo Golf Club’s Victor King Bosor took a prize for the Nearest to the Pin in the Men category. Floria Hurtubise after shooting the lowest Gross Score in the Ladies Category also picked the Longest Drive prize while youngster Michael Nyarko of the Celebrity Golf Club went home with the Longest Drive Prize.
Deputy Managing Director of GCB Bank, Emmanuel Lamptey encouraged corporate bodies to support the growth of golf because of the intrinsic values that the game exudes.
