“By God’s power and the endorsement of the World MiniGolf Federation and also by you; our African MiniGolf players, together we have made history in launching not just an African MiniGolf Championship but the African Youth Championship to follow in November and next year the Africa Cup of Nation’s Championship in Ghana as well.”
In these magnificent words; Mr. Tallal Fatal, President and Secretary General of the Ghana MiniGolf and the Africa MiniGolf Federations, excitedly delivered his speech at the launch of the 2018 Open African MiniGolf Championships event at the Sports City Arena in Accra.
The event witnessed expressive display of culture and traditional apparels from the participating minigolfers who proudly demonstrated their beautiful national colors and vigor.
The tournament, the first of its kind begins on Friday July 27 at the Sports City Arena in Accra, Ghana and ends on a likely sun-kissed Sunday July 29. It has assembled some of the finest minigolfers from both the Anglophone and Francophone countries.
Mr. Fatal noted that Ghana shall host three African Championships and that will serve as the beacon and the springboard for other African countries to follow.
“We are not just proud of what we are doing in Ghana, we are for Africa as a whole, but Ghana will be the prototype for the rest of the African countries to follow”. He said
The maiden Championship will on Sunday produce four African Champions. This will comprise Africa Male and Runner-Up Champions and Africa Female and Runner-Up Champions.
These four champions will qualify to take part in the World Top 100 Minigolfers Championship to be staged in Las Vegas, USA which boasts of an incredible and breathtaking mini golf stadium.
Any of the top four champions from Africa stands a chance to win a whopping $50,000 if they can make it among the top 20 in the World Competition.
The first Coca Cola Open African MiniGolf Championship comes along a flurry of attractions and international leadership.
These amazing feat, according to Mr. Talla Fatal was once a dream and it took more than the mind and a wish to make it a reality. He therefore thanked Mr. Pasi Aho from the World MiniGolf Federation, the government of Ghana, the Minister of Youths and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah as well as other executives for helping to make the maiden championship a reality.
The championship is made possible by GMF, Coca Cola, with support from MTN, Telefonika and the Major Series of Putting (MSOP) U.S.A. There will be flood of prizes for all deserving winners on Sunday.
