The GEC Open Ghana ‘train’ finally landed in Kumasi over the weekend after it made a stop at the Celebrity Golf Club a fortnight ago.
The organizers, Rave Marketing Solutions hit the ground running on Friday evening with a GEC Connect event at the Clubhouse prior to the main event at the magnificent Royal Golf Course the next day.
The Royal Golf Club is home to one of the breathtaking courses in the sub-region; it boasts of lush fairways and seamless greens.
The course continues to attract high-end tournaments and golfing events due to its superb status and attractions.
It came therefore as no surprise as the GEC Open; noted for excellence and brilliance, settled on the Royal Golf Club for the second league of the tournament that was interlaced with authentic live band music.
When it counted most, Kojo Poku took absolute control of events to clinch the enviable trophy that secures him a ticket to Dubai for the GEC Open grand finale.
Kojo built a solid lead by hitting his shots long and straight; kept his approach shots close to the greens and ensured decent putting accuracy.
These outstanding qualities translated into a 36-Stableford points for Kojo after he ended the campaign on a delectable mix of four birdies, 10 pars and four bogeys.
Meanwhile, Ekow Nyarko closely kept the pace for 35 Stableford points but was only enough to keep him in the second position.
Prof. Bernard Baiden, built exciting momentum on the course to win the prize for Closest to the Pin in addition to taking the third position with 33 stableford points.
Ebo Anderson took the prize for the Men Longest Drive while the sensational Vivian Dick claimed the Ladies Longest Drive.
The organizers, Rave Marketing Solutions expressed immense appreciation to the golfers for taking part in the competition and promised to continue to churn our similar thrilling events in the future.
