{"id":3058,"date":"2018-09-25T14:56:01","date_gmt":"2018-09-25T14:56:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thebureaugh.com\/addons\/thegolferonline.com\/golfer\/?p=3058"},"modified":"2018-09-25T14:56:01","modified_gmt":"2018-09-25T14:56:01","slug":"fall-out-from-ghana-open-greensome-allegations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegolferonline.com\/golf\/blog\/2018\/09\/25\/fall-out-from-ghana-open-greensome-allegations\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall-out from Ghana Open \u2013 Greensome allegations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #222222; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Updated!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #222222; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Following TheGolfer Online\u2019s reportage on the fall-out of the Ghana Open event, we have delved into the issues to discover the merits or otherwise, the claims by Mr. Mike Aggrey, President of Ghana Golf Association against Prof. Bernard Baiden, Head of Operations at the Royal Golf Club, Kumasi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #222222; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">In our news feature yesterday, we stated that Mr. Aggrey had questioned why the Royal Golf Club staged a Founder\u2019s Day Greensome on the same day as the Ghana Open. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #222222; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He believed that the move was meant to prevent Kumasi golfers from participating in the Open and therefore threatened to sanction the Royal Golf Club accordingly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #222222; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">In this feature, we are putting the issues side by side to see how hosting the Founder\u2019s Day Greensome might have impacted the turn-out of the Ghana Open.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #222222; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Our checks have revealed that<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #222222; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"> eleven (11) golfers from Kumasi registered to participate in the Ghana Open, of this figure however, only two (2) turned up and played in the Open.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #222222; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Our sources at the Royal Golf Club indicated that of the eleven, two golfers decided to play in the Founder\u2019s Day Greensome\u00a0 because they could not make it to the Open for various reasons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #222222; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">One of the two golfers saw the entry fee of GHC250 as too expensive.
