The Ghana Golf Association (GGA) is poised to deliver another seamless edition of the annual Head of State Invitational Tournament. The second edition is scheduled to come off at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi on Saturday, June 16.
The Head of State Invitational is ultimately a golf competition being organized in honour of the President of the Republic of Ghana and a platform to spearhead business deals for the country.
This year’s event will have in attendance the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo and His Royal Majesty Nana Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The President is expected to do the ceremonial Tee-off and the closing ceremony.
Speaking to Mike Aggrey, President of GGA after the launch of the second edition, he reiterated the commitment of the organizers to use the occasion to achieve a greater purpose other than playing golf. The event, according to him, is to bring together a dynamic and rich mix of business leaders and entrepreneurs to reflect diversity and global inclusiveness at the magnificent Royal Golf Club.
He said, “this tournament is not just a golf competition but an informal avenue to bring together decision-makers in corporate Ghana to interact and discuss various business opportunities for the country. We are creating a congenial atmosphere for high profile business meetings and networking.”
He also maintained that the event will be used as a platform to groom and provide the needed exposure to amateur golfers in the country and beyond.
After staging a successful maiden edition in October last year, where Margaret Owusu-Baah turned out amazing style to win the Ladies Handicap division, the organizers of this year’s event have allocated over 30 slots to lady golfers.
