Lucky Ayisah remained a formidable force from day one through to the final round in the pros category at the recent Accra Open 2021 to clinch the GHC25,000 prize. Lucky posted a total 285 shots; three shots lead from his closest contender; Vincent Torgah who carded 288 shots over the four days campaign.
Lucky, who may have been lurking away from the leaderboard in previous outings, stayed poised during the Accra Open to affirm his presence on the leaderboard.
Lucky Ayisah ended day one at 70; a top spot he shared with Biggie Chibvurl. Lucky however was fully aware that he needed to stay consistent to make any major inroads going forward.
The strong field that featured regular names like Vincent Torgah, Emos Korblah and Kojo Barni certainly didn’t deter the trajectory of Lucky’s game plan as he continued to exert some dominance on days two and three with 71 shots apiece. Despite a day four 73; marking the highest score on his four-day outing; Lucky had already laid the foundation that inspired his ultimate victory.
Coming on the heels of winning the 2020 Gold Fields PGA; a victory that finally happened after several attempts in his previous outings, Lucky will further use the Accra Open victory to vault into new heights.
For now, the cool and collected golfer, obviously has nothing to prove when it comes to having a taste of winning a major in the Ghanaian golfing landscape. How he keeps to this momentum, will be a test that he only has the right altitude to engage.
