It was another exciting day at Ruiru Sports Club when Okolea International sponsored a Tournament which was well attended by 114 players comprising of RSC members and visitors.
Mr. Gathara Gideon playing off handicap 27 emerged the overall winner after scoring 44 points. Yours Truly (The Club Captain) Mr. Mwaura Peter playing off handicap 15 and recording a score of 43 points was overall runner-up and Mr. Wambugu Sammy playing off handicap 19 and scoring of 42 points followed in third place.
The Ladies winner was Mwangi Catherine who played off handicap 20 and eventually scored 36 points, the guest winner went to Ndirangu Jane of Railway Golf Club playing handicap 20 and posted 34 points.
Longest drive in the Men category was won by Fr. Kimani Peter playing handicap 14 and Wainaina Teresia playing handicap 17 took the ladies category.
Mr. Omondi Ben playing handicap 3 won the Nearest to the Pin and Ndirangu Jane took the Ladies.
Brigadier Mohammed playing handicap 24 won the first nine scoring 24 points.
Speaking during the presentation of prizes the Okolea Boss, Peter said he would make the Tournament an annual event to promote golf in Kenya.
Meanwhile, from the start of first week of November till December, the club is embarking on a project that is geared towards encouraging more juniors to play golf.
The club will therefore have golf clinics where the juniors will be coached by the club Pro Mr. Karanja. Children from the age of 7years are encouraged to join.
