Ruiru Sports Club on the weekend hosted yet another Tournament that was sponsored for the third time by OKOLEA INTERNATIONAL LIMITED. The par 72 course is one of the courses most of the golfers in Kenya are endeared to due to its uniqueness.
The tournament attracted a total of 114 golfers who persevered the periodic rain which caught the players on the course. Okolea was well represented by the Managing Director Mr. Peter Muraya and other senior managers.
Speaking during the Prize-Giving ceremony Mr. Muraya said he was happy to be back to sponsor yet another tournament due to the strong relationship OKOLEA fraternity has created with the club. He said OKOLEA would come back again next year for another sponsorship.
The tournament was an 18-hole stableford competition. In the end, Kuria GW HCP 13 shooting 36 points emerged the overall winner while Kiiyukia C HCP 13 was the Men winner playing 36 points, Andrea Chris HCP 4 was the runner up playing 36 points.
Mwaura Raphael HCP 20 was 3rd in the Men category after returning 35 points. Njuguna SG HCP 14 was the gross winner bringing home 89 gross. The sponsor’s player Njuguna Roy HCP 27 took the sponsors trophy.
Muthoni Mary HCP 21 scored 32 points to beat the other ladies to become the winner. Kwendo Lucy HCP 24 took the Ladies runner-up trophy while Ngugi Edith HCP 29 carded 28 points for the third place.
The 1st Nine winner went to Wahome Mwangi HCP 27 who shot 20 points and the 2nd Nine winner went to Nguku Isaac HCP 13 recorded 20 points and also took the Longest Drive Men. Wambwire Norbert HCP 8 emerged the guest player winner after shooting 39 points.
Mbugua SN won the nearest to the PIN prize and Wainaina Teresiah took the nearest to the PIN Ladies. Mungai Pauline took the Longest drive Ladies. The best effort prize went to Chege Michael.
