It was a time to celebrate for Juniors from all walks of life to be given the chance by Ruiru SportsClub for a one-week golf practice at a minimum charge and ending up with sumptuous lunch every day.
The Club offered almost free training for one week and children came to practice and on the last day competed to check among them who would emerge the best.
Juniors G. Kiiru emerged the overall best, followed by Teddy Muriuki while Lenny M. finished at the third position with G. Gachiri at the 4th place respectively.
Junior Boys Ron MMuiruri, Don M. Muiruri, Nick Angelou, Mathu Kimani and Junior girls Marryanne Kendi, Yvonne Wanjiru were given Participation certificates.
3-year old Padraig Muthoga was the youngest and also received a participation certificate.
The Club Professional Mr. Stephen Karanja said he was very happy to see Juniors who were playing forthe first time learn the game very fast and observed golf’s etiquette.
Mr. Peter Mwaura the Club Captain, speaking during the prize giving ceremony, said among other things that, the club had seen the need to develop golf by sponsoring Juniors and confided that the honorary clinic would be an annual event when schools are closed.
He also requested of parents to encourage more Juniors to learn golf when the opportunity such as this presents itself.
Parents thanked the club and said they were very impressed for getting such an opportunity for their kids and promised to bring them again for the clinic.
A Junior speaking on behalf of the others said they were very happy to learn the sport and will participate in the next clinic which will be in April 2019.
