The Celebrity Golf Course in Sakumono, Ghana was sparkled with a scene of excitement, great golfing, and some jaw-dropping moments during the first Asia Cup Golf Tournament.
The fiercely contested event was among a contingent of Asian golfers in Ghana representing the countries of China, Japan, and Korea.
On the path to “golf greatness”, China raced ahead to win after posting a total score of 672 from among eight best golfers in the group. China fielded a total of 28 golfers for the tournament.
The scores of the best eight golfers from each country was used to decide the winner.
China was brilliant in establishing this incredible lead thanks to Peng Chao, Tang Bin, Li Dexiang, Zhang Gongjun, Yang Lin, Wang Shu, Jiang Yang and Wang Liping.
The win erupted an array of joy among the China golfers after having registered their country as the winners for the maiden edition of the Asia Cup Golf Tournament.
Meanwhile Korea followed in the second position after carding a total score of 698 among its eight best golfers who featured in the tournament.
The golfers were GIhoe Han, Kojo Choi, Kyungtaek Hong, Kyunghwa Kim, Hyeopseung Jeon, Taeyoul Lee, Misuk Seo and Seokrae Kim. Korea went into the tournament with 17 golfers.
Japan fielded the lowest number of golfers for the tournament, and they certainly weren’t enough to upset the China and Korea fields. Their collective efforts could only secure them the last place in the tournament. 15 golfers made up the Japan team.
The eight best scores from Mochizuki Hisanobu, Seko Futoshi, Yamada Akira, Kozue Shinichi, Seko Hiroshi, Makita Yuichi, Taniguchi Mizuho, Akiyama Junya and Amemiya Kozue totaled 770 shots for the team.
Organisers of the competition were happy about the general success of the maiden tournament. They expressed special gratitude to the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Mochizuki Hisanobu, and the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, Jung-taek Lim for their unflinching supports towards the tournament.
Members of the organizing team; Peng Chao, John Chin, Mizuho and Kojo Choi were instrumental in delivering a successful maiden edition of the Asia Cup Golf Tournament in Ghana.
