The 5th Beyond Season Golf Tournament (BSGT) brought more than 60 golfers to River Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, USA, for a day of competitive golf, networking, community and impact.
Organized by Beyond Media Solutions, the September 5 tournament featured individual stroke play across Men’s Groups A, B and C, Women Open, Senior Open and Youth Open divisions. For tournament scoring, each golfer’s Handicap Index was converted into a Playing Handicap based on the River Oaks course, the tees played, course rating and slope.
Competition was strong throughout the field. In Men’s Group A, Muthiaru Mburu, playing off a handicap of 6, captured the title with a net 66. He finished one stroke ahead of Abraham Nebo Sr., while Effort Nedziwe placed third. Mburu also recorded the group’s lowest gross score with a 72.
Men’s Group B produced one of the closest finishes of the tournament, with Carlos Tongesai, playing off 15, posting a net 63 to take the title. Mike Knox also finished at net 63 and placed second, while Gautham Pradan Ramu took third with a net 66. Knox recorded the group’s lowest gross score with a 76.
In Men’s Group C, Steven Kregel, playing off 26, won with a net 68, edging Prince Jibunor, who also finished at net 68, through the tournament tiebreak procedure. Ivan Rowe completed the top three with a net 73.
One of the standout performances of the day came from Kagendo Kubai in the Women Open. Playing off 35, Kubai posted a net 58, 13 under par and the lowest net score across all tournament divisions. Dr. Becky Chepng’eno finished second with a net 67 and recorded the Women Open’s lowest gross score with an 84, while Merciee Wanjiku placed third with a net 72.
The Senior Open was won by Kofi Hinson, who finished with a net 72 playing off 26. Jon Adams placed second with a net 75, followed by Denise Blue with a net 78. The Youth Open also featured Hendrik von Laffert, who completed the tournament with a net 81 playing off 24.
Teen golfer Mac Chris Strenn also competed in Men’s Group B, gaining valuable tournament experience alongside a strong field of adult golfers.
Beyond the leaderboard, BSGT continued its broader mission of using golf to create connections, expand access to the game and support community initiatives.
The tournament supported Circle of Life Solutions, an organization supporting girls in Minnesota and rural Africa through menstrual-health initiatives, sanitary pads supplies, mentorship and career guidance and the First Timers Golf Program, which introduces new golfers to the fundamentals of the sport.
Now in its fifth year, the Beyond Season Golf Tournament continues to grow as a platform bringing together golfers, businesses, community organizations and new players.
With the 2026 tournament complete, attention now turns toward the 6th Beyond Season Golf Tournament in 2027, with the goal of growing the field and creating an even stronger tournament experience.
For BSGT, the mission continues to extend beyond the scorecard: grow the game, strengthen community and create impact through golf.
